Dear Neecie Bio

Dear Neecie:
The First Lady Veteran of Comedy

Dear Neecie, born Denise Simmons, captivates audiences around the world with her sharp wit, over-the-top humor, and edgy yet insightful advice. Known for her empathetic ear, Neecie has shared her wisdom and comedic flair across countries like India, the Philippines, Africa, Germany, Canada, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and the U.S. via Armed Forces Radio and other international stations.

Her journey into comedy began during her service in the United States Army, with her first performance at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she faced a tough crowd but remained undeterred. Neecie soon made her mark at the Comedy House Theater in Columbia, SC, where she became a regular host. By 1999, her talent landed her on BET's Comic View, where she thrived for four consecutive seasons.

Neecie's charm extended to television, where she regularly appeared on the Jenny Jones Show's BOD Squad as both a comedian and actress. She’s shared the stage with comedic legends like Redd Foxx and hosted shows alongside Bill Bellamy, Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, Mike Epps, Coco Brown, and Sheryl Underwood. Her versatility also led her to host the famous Lou Rawls Telethon and perform alongside iconic musical acts such as Earth, Wind & Fire, The Ohio Players, The Bar-Kays, Tony Terry, DJ Kool, and Lakeside.

Beyond stand-up, Neecie’s comedic talents have sailed the seas, entertaining audiences aboard Carnival Cruise Lines. She also ventured into writing, starting with a column for Kansas City's "Talk of The Town Newspaper." Her “Dear Neecie” column became so popular that she was asked to review restaurants and has contributed to nationally recognized publications like Today’s Black Woman Magazine.

A natural storyteller, Neecie’s voice has been heard on radio stations across the U.S. and the Middle East. She has written, produced, and starred in radio commercials for brands like Terminix, Nassar Plus, Shamrock Auto, and Super Beauty World.

Now a government contractor and proud U.S. Army veteran, Neecie continues to write her column for the troops. As the last of the WAC (Women's Army Corps), she understands the healing power of laughter in difficult times and remains dedicated to bringing joy to others, both on and off the stage.
